01.18.05 New Website Launched
After months of work, we are pleased to introduce Version 3.0 of the ArchVoices.org website. The obvious graphic overhaul is accompanied by a number of new features, enhancements, and general updates, as described below.
This entire redesign is a component of a multi-dimensional partnership with Kaplan AEC Education. Kaplan is the new provider of ALS exam preparation material for the nine divisions of the ARE. Given ArchVoices’ emphasis on supporting young professionals through the licensure process, we believe Kaplan is a perfect partner. Kaplan has recently launched a new site, www.kaplanaeceducation.com, as well as introduced their new ARE Learning Systems to better serve aspiring architects. If you’re taking the ARE, thinking about it, or know someone who is, we encourage you to check out Kaplan’s many offerings.
Discussion Forums & Firm Profiles
In response to our survey a few months ago about what we should add to the website, a number of readers asked for a message board or discussion forum (one survey respondent simply said, “forum, forum, forum”). Thankfully, our colleagues at Archinect (a general architecture and design forum) and ARE Forum (focused on the ARE and LEED-certification processes) have filled that need, better than we ever could.
Other readers suggested that they wanted more information about individual architecture firms. Again, InsideArch is already the best resource we know of, and it will only get better as more people add the benefit of their experiences and perspectives.
Each ArchVoices newsletter as well as each one of our webpages can now be saved as a PDF. This unique feature is located in the upper-right corner, along with a handful of other standard website features that should make it easier to both share and save ArchVoices. The PDF builder takes a few seconds to load; it prints better than it may look on your screen; and we’ll be adjusting the format as soon as possible to make it more printer-friendly.
Every page of the site has also been updated, including our long list of schools and their websites.
